Using the YRG with Guitar Pro 6
Guitar Pro 6 is a useful program for creating tablature. After a quick and easy setup, Guitar Pro 6 will automatically transcribe notes played on the YRG into tablature. Here is how to set the YRG up with Guitar Pro 6:
Open Guitar Pro 6 and from the menu bar select “File” then “New Score.”
Now it is time to pick an instrument. The instrument you choose will affect the amount of strings on the tablature as well as the sound of playback. We suggest picking a typical six string guitar when starting out.
In the menu bar of Guitar Pro 6, click on the “Sound” tab and select “MIDI Capture.”
Next, select “iii You Rock Guitar Vx.xx” from the drop-down box.
To record your playing, simply hit “Start capturing” and start playing. Notes should show up in the tablature area as you play. When you want to stop recording, hit “Stop.”
It is important, especially for writing tablature using different open tunings, to match the internal transposition of the YRG (See user manual) with the transposition settings in Guitar Pro 6. To access the transposition settings in Guitar Pro 6, click on the guitar symbol on the left side of the screen. You may change the open tuning of each string individually by clicking the up/down arrows next to each tuning peg, or by selecting a common tuning from the drop-down box.
Using the YRG with Guitar Pro 6 allows you to easily create tablature for anything you can play to share with others. Good luck and enjoy creating!
If the notes do not appear correctly on the TAB, or some notes are missing. TO use GP6 the YRG needs to be switched in to MIDI MONO mode where each string is set on a separate MIDI channel. This allows GP6 to differentiate between similar notes on different strings. The latest version of GP6 will do this automatically, but if this is not working correctly you will need to set the guitar to MIDI setting #19. To do this:
Go to SubMenu 3 (Layer Options) and select MIDI channels (ch)
press and hold MUSIC and press PLAY 3 times
release both buttons, the display will show EF
press up arrow once, the display will alternate between ch and a number
select MIDI setting 19
press fret number 19, the display will alternate between ch and 19
press MUSIC to exit the SubMenus
The MUSIC LED will be flashing to indicate that the preset has been changed.
To save this in the current preset: press and hold MUSIC and press RECORD
